With the uncertainty that has surrounded us recently, some amazing small business owners have stepped up to help our community in whatever way they can. We want to recognize their efforts!
Today’s Hero – Ajay’s Upholstery
Today we shine the spotlight on Ajay’s Upholstery, a family owned upholstery shop in Kennesaw. Usually, they are you upholstery go-to, from car and boat re-upholstery, to refinishing your favorite living room couch and more. During these times of uncertainty, they came up with a way to put their skills to a use – making reusable homemade masks. As of early this month, they had already donated 500 masks with another 1,000 more.
These efforts began when Bibi Husain, a member of the family that owns Ajay’s Upholstery, wanted to send masks to the hospital in New York where her cousins work. Shortly after sending them, the CDC began to encourage homemade masks as an alternative to medical masks. At that point, Husain and the rest of her family got to work with the goal of making as many masks and they can.
Business may look different for Ajay’s right now but they are still hard at work. According to an article from the Cobb Courier, Husain shares, “Once on door closes, another one opens, so we are not too stressed! If there is a will, there is a way, and for that reason will keep working hard to do our best for the community.”
Thank you to the Ajay’s Upholstery family for all your hard work and dedication towards our community. Please continue to support your local small businesses like Ajay’s Upholstery!
