Lanie Fund Projects

Lanie Park

Lanie Park is the inaugural project for the Lanie Shipp Hoover Fund. This park is dedicated to the memory of Lanie Shipp Hoover and demonstrates our continued commitment to her vision for Town Center.

This project will convert a currently unusable, remnant greenspace of the South Barrett Reliever Phase II roadway project into a passive park for the community. The nearly 4-acre pocket park will feature sidewalks, greenspace, seating with a small plaza, and the addition of 25 trees to commemorate the Town Center Community’s 25th Anniversary.

The park’s design provides walkability through the space, areas to relax, native plant landscapes, and open grass areas.

The park will be located at the roundabout on Barrett Lakes Boulevard.

Funding & Donations

Funding for this project is provided by The Lanie Shipp Hoover Fund, a new greenspace initiative established in honor of the Town Center CID's first Executive Director and her dedication to trail and greenspace projects.

This fund is managed by the Town Center Alliance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and is made possible through donations from community members and sponsors.

About Lanie

Lanie Shipp Hoover served as Executive Director of the Town Center CID from its inception in 1997 until her retirement in 2014. It was her life’s love to create and strengthen community.

Lanie recognized the incredible natural assets in Town Center like the Noonday Creek as being the cornerstone of our community. She saw the value of connecting our nature, parks, and trails in ways that would come to transform the Town Center Community.

During her tenure, the organization launched transformational projects such as the Noonday Creek Trail, which runs through the heart of Town Center, as well as Big Shanty Connector, the Skip Spann Connector, and countless studies and beautification projects.

Those who knew Lanie described her as the “epitome of elegance and southern grace,” “hard-working”, and someone who “always wanted what was best for Cobb and the community she served.”
